Specialised Services
In addition to standard medical care we offer a range of specialised services including:
- ECGs, (two 12-lead 3-phase ECGs), Bruce protocol stress ECG’s using a treadmill
- Lung function testing
- Full annual physical examinations (as determined by the American Medical Association)
- Insurance medicals
- 24hr ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
- Drawing of blood for tests. (Please note Pathcare will charge you separately for the testing of the blood)
- Minor procedures including removal of moles, lumps, bumps, setting fractured bones, applying/removing casts, removal of sunspots, repair/suturing of wounds, dressing changes, pap smears, etc. (Please confirm with reception with regards to your specific needs). Dr Cohen has a special interest in skin lesions and moles.
- The medical aids are encouraging patients to make use of the facility of the GP to do minor procedures in the surgery.
- Some of the advantages are:
- There is much less sepsis risk, as the “bugs” are primitive and not “superbugs” as found in the hospital setting
- There is a considerable saving in the cost, as theatre use at the hospital currently is R420 per MINUTE. There is no cost in our setting.
- The specialist costs are much higher than the GP
- Please ask your medical aid for authorization, prior to booking your appointment.
- The fee levied is a global fee and includes subsequent visits for that problem for 14 days post op. The materials used during these appointments, will however be charged to the patient
- Some of the advantages are:
- Both Dr Cohen and Dr Horsefall, both have a special interest in skin lesions moles and lumps. A brochure about the procedure, the costs et cetera are available and can easily be emailed to you. Please contact the receptionist should you want a brochure.
*Please inform the receptionist when booking for any of the above as they may require a longer appointment.
